Dekko’s Daily Grind ~ Daniela

I’ve known this crazy lovely mad cow for over 10 years and have had the pleasure in not only working with her but to

continue to have her in my life. Daniela used to work with us back in the Architect and Heroes days but has since gone onto being an actress, student and a perpetual mover!

Daniela grew her hair out and I mean ‘grew it out’, we hadn’t seen her for years and she came into Dekko Salon looking like Chrystal Gayle.

The first time we cut Daniela’s hair off we went for a messy bob, chin length. We wanted it so that she could wear it both messy and neater. Razored off through the ends with a lot of weight taken off, here’s Daniela’s first hairchop..

So anyway, 6months later Daniela came back in and we decided to go even shorter and to make it abit looser, funkier and more fun. Again we used the razor and shaped the back into the neck, made one side slightly shorter and left the longer look through the other side. It was so much fun, Thanks Luv’ for a fun time..

Such a photogenic girl! By the way excuse the wonky pictures on this one, just couldn’t get it straight : \

My Pick ~ My Next Color Technique

I love this color technique, combining two subtle color differences together. Looks to me like most of the head is colored the blonde shade then a quarter of the head is a mid brown shade.

I want this next, of course with a variation of different colors to suit my already blonde with black looks. Sorry Jodi, I know this one will be hard work the first time around but Pleeaasssseeeee : )

Sorry I couldn’t give credit to this photo, as I found it on Pinterest.

Angelo Seminara

One of my absolute favorite stylists, Angelo Seminara who is Artistic Director for Davine’s Product Company. Those of you who follow me, know that I always try to post as many collections from Angelo as possible. I find his work to be positively inspiring, unique and ultra creative. Here is his Games Collection for you to check out.

Excerpt taken from

‘Almost tribal in character, Angelo’s inspiration for this collection is underpinned by the tactile textures of the natural world: snakes shedding their skin, light casting diffused shapes through diaphanous fronds and leaves; fish scales, bird feathers, wood grains, slate, rock and marble striations. Combined or singular, the images capture nature’s strength in an enchanting, evocative way.’

Pixelated Hair Color

Came across this new color technique recently that was created by Spanish hair research and development company,  X-Presion. What started off as a color mistake, is now all raging over the internet. I thinks it’s really creative, although not sure how many clients will be asking for this one, but seeing anything other than Ombre is fine by me!

So what do you guys think of it?

Here’s some example’s from X-Presion and if you want to read the originally article and interview, here it it:

My Favorite ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Character ~

I, like everyone else went to watch 50 shades of Grey last night ~ on opening night. Yes I read all the books and absolutely hated them. Which meant that I was  pleasantly surprised that I did not vomit while watching this movie. I’m not here to add yet another review to the other thousands out there but I really wanted to draw attention to my favorite ‘character’ in the movie that caught my attention!

From the very beginning, Anastasia Steele’s fringe (bangs) had a life of its own, I couldn’t help but notice,  it went short, and then longer and back to short again, up and down, choppy to straight, full to split, all within the 90 miles she drove from home to Seattle.

Not that I didn’t like them, in fact we (as in me and my Dekko hairdresser mates who went) were convinced clients would now be coming in asking for the Anastasia fringe. Yikes – which part? Dakota Johnson’s hairdresser Mark Townsend will be happy his client is the talk of the town, although he didn’t actually cut the fringe for the movie, sorry I cant give credit to whoever did do it.

But anyway, it must’ve been really really tough for the continuity team, I know how hard it is to keep a choppy fringe the same every time you cut it, let alone for every scene! Anyway, just for fun, here’s what I mean…

And in my humble opinion, If I were a client and wanted this fringe, I would take this picture in to show the stylist..
